Michael – traveled from Oregon for an anterior hip replacement

“My physical therapist asked me not to tell his other patient how well I was recovering because he was recovering from a posterior hip replacement …. He was probably 4 weeks “behind” me in his recovery!”

Dr. Mast recommended an Anterior hip replacement …. I concurred. We did not have a physician in Bend Oregon with Dr. Mast’s experience so, I decided to have him replace my hip. I was not looking forward to a trip to CA but, it proved to be well worth the effort.

I was in at 7:00am and out by 4:00pm and drove home to Oregon the next day (not recommended).

Rehab went well …. I was able to get in the pool after 2 weeks. Riding a noodle while bicycling my legs in the water was very effective; both loosening and exercising my butt, leg and hip muscles!

In one month I was swimming laps again, riding a recumbent bike and stretching daily. In three months I was snow skiing (not aggressively).

My physical therapist asked me not to tell his other patient how well I was recovering because he was recovering from a posterior hip replacement …. He was probably 4 weeks “behind” me in his recovery!

MOST IMPORTANT: Your commitment to a rehab routine is critical!

I cannot imagine anyone going anywhere other than the SF Hip and Pelvis.
